Local events educate and entertain
Earth Day is this Saturday and the Miami Valley is packed with ways to celebrate the holiday. We found 11 educational and fun activities to entertain the whole family this weekend.
Earth Day Exploration
April 22, 10-11 a.m.
Aullwood Audubon, 1000 Aullwood Road, Dayton
Spend Earth Day learning about local habitats. An Aullwood naturalist will be leading tours of the nature sanctuary. Pre-registration required.
City Wide Clean Up
April 22, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Dayton
The city-wide event will pick up trash and debris across 30 neighborhoods. Afterwards, enjoy a party at either the Dayton Dream Center or Revival Center Ministries.
Huber Heights City Parks Clean Up
April 22, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Huber Heights Community Center, 4301 Powell Road, Huber Heights
Volunteer to help pick up trash in any of Huber Heights’ parks. Afterwards, head back to the community center for other Earth Day activities.
B-W Greenway Community Land Trust Earth Day Festival
April 22, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., & April 23 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Saturday: Spark Fairborn, 305 W. Main St., Fairborn, Sunday: Oakes Quarry Park, 1267 E. Xenia Drive, Fairborn
On Saturday, enjoy the festival, which will feature demonstrations, speakers, children’s activities, local vendors and food trucks. On Sunday, participate in the festival’s first-ever 5K.
YS Habitat Community & Earth Day Celebration
April 23, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
John Bryan Community Center, 100 Dayton St., Yellow Springs
The event will feature entertainment (like live music and children’s activities), native plants, and education and outreach from vendors like Drive Electric Dayton.
Earth Day Celebration at Glen Helen

Earth Day Recycled Art Show

This juried art show will showcase artworks created with water bottles, paper, plastic bottles and more.
Hug the Earth Festival

Middletown Earth Day & Arbor Day Celebration
