Greene County is a great place to take in some nature, shopping and even a cold drink

After a brutal winter and ongoing pandemic, people are itching to go out in search of adventure and take in some shopping and local dining.

Greene County, located just east of Dayton, offers miles of nature trails, wineries and various shops the whole family can enjoy. Much of the county is filled with rolling pastures of farmland, but there is nature for visitors to explore in places such as John Bryan State Park and the Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve.

Clifton Gorge is a particularly stunning location to visit. The 268-acre nature preserve offers miles of beautiful hiking trails and serene views of the limestone gorges that are cut out by the Little Miami River.

After a morning of hiking and trekking through nature, Greene County and, more specifically, the town of Yellow Springs, offers some great boutique and craft shops that line the main road through town. Local shops include Bonadies Glass Studio, the Epic Book Shop, Miami Valley Pottery and the Yellow Springs Toy Company.

After a long day of exploring nature and shopping, Green County offers several different options for sitting down and relaxing with a favorite alcoholic beverage. Whether it is Devil Wind Brewery in Xenia, Yellow Springs Brewery in Yellow Springs, or Caesar Creek Vineyards in Xenia, there are several options where you can sit down and take a moment to reflect on the fun-filled day.
