A fundraiser for a local museum is a night of fun for the whole family.
The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery is moving forward with its annual spring fundraiser with a family movie night and even a contest for the kids.
The Boonshoft Block Party will act as the museum’s annual fundraiser and offers a new twist by inviting families to join the museum at the Dixie Twin Drive-In Theater for a fun and safe evening watching The Lego Movie.
“It gives kids and families a way to get back out to enjoy an early spring day. Everyone’s been crammed indoors for the past year, so I know people are itching to get out and enjoy time with each other, and we are trying to help provide that for them,” says Matthew Mercer, the donor relations coordinator and membership specialist for the Dayton Society of Natural History.
The fundraiser also features a fun contest for the kids to show off their “building” skills by building some kind of structure out of a range of different materials, then recording and submitting a video to the museum.
Mercer says that safety guidelines will be in place and feel that the drive-in is a great place for the event because it is an open space where people can still maintain their distance.
“A movie is always a good way to bring families together,” he adds.
