 A Curated Dating Scene

DateDayton brings the fun back to the dating scene with events geared toward singles in their 20s, 30s and 40s

Gone are the days of meeting up with a blind date at a restaurant you’ve never been to before. Now, DateDayton has come on the scene with in-real-life dating events for singles in their 20s, 30s and 40s.

DateDayton events are casual events or speed dating events where we bring local singles together to meet and connect,” explains co-founder Roula Labbad.

Events are 2-3 hours long and offer a variety of ice breakers, speed dating and games to help attendees interact with one another. After all, it isn’t always easy to meet someone new.

Labbad, who co-founded DateDayton alongside Mercedes McElley and Rachel Kerr, says the inspiration for the concept came from their own frustrations and lack of success in dating apps. “We wanted to create a new avenue for people to meet other singles who were serious about meeting someone,” adds Labbad.

What started as a small idea in Columbus has since grown to 6 cities, with two new additions just on the horizon.

What makes DateDayton stand out from other dating events is the way it’s organized. “Our events are casual mixers or speed dating events,” says Labbad. “We choose fun and exciting popular venues to host our events that also offer an interactive aspect.”

Not only are these events hosted at popular venues, but DateDayton gives attendees a safe space to meet others that they know or are open to connecting with. “We have volunteers and leads helping attendees interact and assisting as needed to ensure they have a great experience,” says Labbad. “We also provide a number of ways to help attendees interact via our ice breakers or speed dating events.”

As for the future of DateDayton, Labbad said the team is looking to add themes to the events as well as other fun aspects to increase interaction.

The next DateDayton event is scheduled for September 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Two Social on East 3rd Street in Dayton. The event will have ice breaker games, giveaway prizes, giant Jenga, darts, corn hole, video games, board games, specialty drinks and food.
