Support Local Farmers at this Moonlight Market

Many find themselves unable to shop at early morning flea markets and farmer markets due to work or other day-to-day obligations; however, The Lavender Project is giving the people of Dayton an opportunity to shop outside of those early hours. Join the Lavendar Project for their Sunset Stories and Moon Market event, October 2-3, for live music, shopping and more.  

The Sunset Stories and Moon Market is a two-day event, each offering its own after-hours fun. The Sunset Stories will take place on October 2, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at the Neon Theater and will feature a screening of the feature-length documentary “Farming While Black,” which examines the plight of Black farmers in the United States. Sunset Stories will simultaneously host an art show that same night.   

Friday night, The Moon Market will start at 6:30 p.m. at Fifth Street Brew Pub. The Moon Market will feature many local farmers and artisans offering tasty samples of their produce. Additionally, the Moon Market event will be entertaining the crowd of bustling shoppers with live music.   

Hosted by The Lavender Project, the organization is an initiative focused on the reclamation of agriculture in the Black community, as well as other People of Color. The Lavender Project’s focus in these communities is to highlight female and nonbinary farmers, growers and food justice workers.
