Still looking for a date idea for Valentine’s Day? Check out these botanical events

Many people celebrate Valentine’s Day with a romantic dinner and gift exchange; however, Now and Zen DIY Studio and North Dayton Garden Center are offering some unique alternatives this Valentine’s Day. There, plant lovers can indulge in their love of greenery with their partner this February.  

Date Night Terrarium Workshop 

Join Now and Zen DIY Studio this Valentine’s Day for its Hot Date, Cool Plants Event. Participating couples will be given two medium terrariums to work on side by side. Couples will be able to choose from an assortment of plants, stones and other natural embellishments to create their living souvenir.   

For those looking to start their foray into terrarium keeping, guidance from the studio assistants will be available during this event. Studio assistance will be able to help with design tips and plant care tips to help keep these creations thriving. 

This workshop will be available Feb. 14 from 5-6:30 p.m.

Bonsai 101 Class

North Dayton Garden Center has an educational experience for plant-loving couples this Valentine’s Day. Join the Garden Center’s Rick Kossoudji, a lifelong bonsai grower, as he teaches the Dos and Don’ts of bonsai gardening. Attendees will leave this class with one free bonsai plant up to two years old and one small decorative statue.   

This class will be available Feb. 14 from 10-11:30 a.m.
