The one-day festival will showcase hundreds of local artists and performers
Art in the City returns this Saturday, August 5, taking over downtown Dayton for a celebration of visual and performing arts.
The Downtown Dayton Partnership will welcome more than 300 artists and performers for the seventh Art in the City, a signature event for AES Ohio’s Summer in the City. Visit downtown Dayton from 1-7 p.m. Saturday for art showcases, live performances and demonstrations and more—including the chance to try out a new art form or dance for yourself.
This year’s Art in the City also kicks off the voting for a juried art show organized by the Dayton Society of Artists. Pop-up galleries showcasing the work of thirty local artists have been placed in downtown businesses. Between August 4 and 18, voters can choose their favorite of the 30 artworks on downtowndayton.org. The winner will receive a cash prize.

Highlights at Art in the City will include:
- Dance performances at the Dayton Metro Library
- A giant floor piano at the PNC Arts Annex
- A Family Zone at the Levitt Pavilion Dayton, with activities including face painting, hula hooping and a bubble zone
- Karaoke at Courthouse Square
- An Art Bazaar in the Oregon District
- The chance to collaborate with sidewalk chalk artist Boy Blue on an ocean-themed mural.
