Luna Gifts & Botanicals offers a look into six friends’ passion project

Walking down Wayne Avenue in Dayton, as shoppers weave in and out of the shops and restaurants, one store sticks out for its vivid green colors, which are easily visible through the windows. 

Offering shoppers a chance to bring home a new slice of the great outdoors is Luna Gifts & Botanicals. In addition to providing a place to pick up a new potted plant, the shop offers a look into six friends’ passion project.   

Located in the Oregon District of the city, the store began when “six lifelong friends sought to fulfill a niche in the neighborhood they call home,” according to Tracy Robillard, one of the shop’s owners. Finding an ideal spot to open, along with “a little bit of experience, hard-earned wisdom, passion for finding beautiful things and an entrepreneurial spirit,” says Robillard, Luna Gifts and Boutiques opened to serve the Oregon District in 2016.  

While primarily a plant store, the store’s inventory expands well beyond blossoms and buds. In addition to the potted goods and the materials required for their upkeep, the store also sells “botanically inspired items,” like candles, crystals and more. Combining all of these objects helps create not only a space where shoppers can “find a new plant, or…a friendly face,” according to Robillard, but also experience “a space brimming with exploration, relaxation and inspiration.” 

Of course, as the store’s main purpose is to sell botanicals, Robillard assures guests that they can expect plenty of support from the staff along their journey to owning a new plant. “The boutique has a strong commitment to quality which is reflected in our expertly sourced plants,” Robillard says. “And knowledgeable staff is always ready to offer helpful advice on plant care.”
