Great Miami Riverway offers themed trail tours to explore region

One of the Miami Valley’s best assets includes its river corridor and adjacent paved trail network. The Dayton region is home to one of the largest bike trails in the country, and the Great Miami Riverway seeks to promote that unique feature, along with the economic windfalls from tourism.

In the last decade, more than $500 million in riverfront investments enhanced access in communities along the Great Miami River. According to the Great Miami Riverway coalition, “Our partners have invested $1 million into the Riverway and we continue to grow. Tapping into a $43 billion tourism market in Ohio, we see a bright future and a positive today. We encourage you to explore, invest, create, and find your way in the Great Miami Riverway.”

Themed journeys include “Sweet treats” featuring doughnuts, ice cream, cookies, candy and more scrumptious delicacies; public art and sculptures; pizza and epicurean cuisine; local retailers; and a beer trail exploring breweries and pubs at cities and towns that dot the banks of the Great Miami River.

There’s still time to win prizes in the Great Miami Riverway’s Summer Challenge. Participants must download the special Riverway App and choose an activity from the list of eligible challenges. To be eligible for the grand prizes, at least two activities in each category must be completed by August 31.
