Summer in the City

AES Ohio Summer in the City events and programs returns for the season

The warmer weather is finally settling in, and that means it’s time for the return of AES Ohio Summer in the City. The Downtown Dayton Partnership is bringing back the series of signature events for another season, and as employees return to the office and others are getting out and about again, the summer is full of great ways to reconnect, reconvene and rediscover downtown Dayton.

Here are a few ways to shake off the rainy spring and enjoy downtown:

  • The Square Is Where, May-September: Free lunchtime programming is back on Courthouse Square from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays. Enjoy oversized games, picnic tables, food vendors, and live entertainment including musical acts, trivia, music bingo, and much more. Grab your friends and coworkers and take a midday break outdoors! Don’t miss the official 2022 TSIW Kickoff Party on Friday, featuring Downtown Dollars giveaways, cornhole, live music, games, food trucks and more..
  • Registration is open for the popular Downtown Adventure event on May 21. This scavenger hunt has teams exploring downtown, looking for clues, completing challenges and answering riddles for the chance to win one of several prizes. New this year is a prize for the best team costume, making this a great way to spend an afternoon with friends or create a team-building experience for employees!

  • Mark your calendar now for the next Art in the City event, to be held August 6. Art in the City will once again kick off a juried art show in businesses throughout downtown, and be a celebration of Dayton’s visual and performing arts groups, with hundreds of artists participating in demos, exhibits and fun activities throughout the city..
Art in the City
  • First Friday: The first Friday of every month is a great time to visit downtown Dayton. Art galleries throughout the city feature fresh exhibits, restaurants offer food and drink specials, live music plays on street corners and inside downtown pubs, and streets come to life with activity..
  • Festivals: Downtown is home to many fantastic community festivals, including the Dayton Celtic Festival, City of Dayton’s Summer Music Series, great events in the Oregon District and many more. AES Ohio Summer in the City will put the spotlight on these popular events..
  • Levitt Pavilion: Downtown’s newest outdoor venue is always a hit, and now it’s back with a full season of free performances throughout the summer, starting in June. Check out the full list of summer concerts at www.LevittDayton.org.

“We hope to provide lots of ways to connect with one another and discover all the new businesses that have opened downtown — in spite of the pandemic,” says Downtown Dayton Partnership President Sandra Gudorf. “The AES Ohio Summer in the City events create ample opportunities to get out and explore the arts and culture, amenities, and intrepid entrepreneurs that comprise our community.”
