New Chapter for West Dayton Library

New Chapter for West Dayton Library

The $12 million facility will host fundraising event prior to public grand opening

The spirit and history of West Dayton will be celebrated as the Dayton Metro Library Foundation hosts A Novel Night, a special preview of the new West Branch. This event blends exciting activities, delicious drinks, and tempting tastes with popular literature themes for a truly unique adult evening. A Novel Night will be 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, at the new, not-yet-open-to-the-public library branch located in historic West Dayton at 300 Abbey Avenue (at U.S. Route 35 and West Third Street).

“Guests at A Novel Night will get to see and explore their fabulous new Library, but they will really be wowed by the variety of activities and experiences we have planned,” said Paul Robinson, event chair.

Entertainment includes music from DJ 4 Seasons and Vibe 5 Band; fashion exhibits from DE-FI; hand-crafted cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and desserts; and spoken word performances by Furaha Henry-Jones and Leroy Bean. Guests will be able to create art projects, leave inscriptions in childrens’ books and bid on silent auction packages featuring the library’s “ReImagining Works” artists.

A Novel Night tickets are $75 each and include all the activities, entertainment, and refreshments. Cocktail attire is requested. Tickets may be purchased at DaytonMetroLibrary.org/NovelNight. Funds raised by this event will support a Percussion Play installation at the new Branch, which is part of Learn to Earn Dayton’s Play On Purpose Initiative.

A free, family-friendly grand opening of the West Branch for the public can be expected in early 2022. For more information about A Novel Night, visit DaytonMetroLibrary.org/NovelNight
