Holiday happenings still lighting up for the season

I get lots of questions about what Christmas/Holiday traditions are continuing under this unprecedented time. We do need to get out of the house safely, wise and smart.

This is not a complete list, but here are some of my favorites in the Dayton area.

First, the Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill, 75 Water St. in Clifton outside of Yellow Springs, is open for its annual spectacular light show. More than 4 million lights brighten the night from 6-9 p.m. every evening through Dec. 30. Now, a few things to remember: They allow 25% capacity, social distancing and masks are mandatory, and best time to visit with less crowds is Monday thru Thursday nights.

Eaton, Ohio, is home to Fort St. Clair’s Whispering Christmas and you don’t have to leave your vehicle to enjoy it. Drive- thru only. The display is located at 135 Camden Road. Gates open 6-9:30 p.m. $5 donation per vehicle is greatly appreciated.

A Carillon Christmas is back for your holiday merriment at Carillon Historical Park. The park and carillon bell tower are lit up for the season. This event is worth your time.

Finally, the latest in the holiday foray is from our friends at Renaissance Park. Yep, since no Renfest this year this is the next best thing. Called Yuletide Village Season of Lights, at press time it just two weekends left. Marketing Director Cheryl Buckholtz says, “We are excited to offer a new winter lights experience this year. Our outdoor facility is a safe venue with plenty of space. Enjoy the village aglow, a Yuletide marketplace, warm drinks for chilly nights, treats complete with Santa and strolling carolers.“
