Levitt Pavilion launches in June with 46 free concerts
Friends of Levitt Pavilion Dayton announced the 2022 Eichelberger Concert Season. The lineup of 46 free concerts begins June 2 with local favorite Son Del Caribe in a night celebrating Hispanic heritage as part of the Dayton Metro Library World Music Series! There will be salsa music, dancers from Orgullo Mexicano founded by Imelda Ayala and food for purchase.
Live music returns to the Levitt Dayton stage this summer with a diverse array of genres. This year’s season is divided into genre specific series sponsored by local businesses and individuals including the altafiber rock/pop series, the Dayton Metro Library World Music Series, the Projects Unlimited Gem Series (comprised of local opening acts), the Tim Tye’s Midnight Sky Country/Bluegrass series and the TricomB2B Funk Series. Also highlighted this season are R&B/Soul, Blues, Jazz, Folk and many others.
All concerts begin at 7 p.m., are free and guests are invited to bring picnic blankets, chairs, food and beverages.
In 2021, after returning from an entirely virtual concert season, the Levitt Pavilion Dayton saw 87,363 people in attendance at 36 free concerts and 20 community gatherings – where community organizations and individuals rented the venue for their own events.
“As we enter our fifth season, we are honored at how quickly our city has embraced Levitt Dayton as a community asset,” said Lisa Wagner, executive director. “We see strangers become friends at these concerts, we see conversations happen between people who met because this space is activated. We feel very fortunate to be a part of this community building story.”
The first shows of the season will be Son Del Caribe on Thursday, June 2; Mojoflo on Friday, June 3; and Amythyst Kiah featuring Heather Redman & the Reputation opening Saturday, June 4. For additional performances and information, visit LevittDayton.org.
Other free concert series in the region this summer include:
- The City of Springboro and Park Board present free concerts at North Park. Tuesday concerts start at 7 p.m. and Friday shows start at 7:30 p.m. Bring your own seating.
- The City of Centerville’s Arts Commission hosts the free Summer Concert Series at 7 p.m. every Sunday starting in June and running through September.
- The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center and Troy Main Street team up to present Fridays on Prouty concerts. Bring a lawn chair to the center of town for music at Prouty Plaza.
- RiverScape MetroPark offers free musical performances Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at various times throughout the month. Check the Facebook page or the website for details on upcoming performances.
- The City of Beavercreek stages free concerts at Dominick Lofino Park Sundays from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
- The City of Miamisburg hosts its Star City Concert Series Sundays from 6-9 p.m. at Riverfront Park. Bring a lawn chair for seating and nonperishable items for the food drive.
