Check out these local farmer’s markets this weekend to celebrate spring
Thursday, March 20, marked the first official day of spring, a godsend after a wicked winter here in the Midwest. In Dayton, there are a host of farmer’s markets to check out this weekend to celebrate the new season.
Greene County Farmers Market of Beavercreek
In Beavercreek, you can check out the Greene County Farmers Market, which is at 4051 Indian Ripple Road. On Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., you can expect to find fresh-baked bread from The Bread Den, cookies from Adelaide’s Wholesome Baked and grass-fed beef, steaks, pork and chicken from Little Big Farm. The Farmer’s Wife at SEEK Farms also has fresh, seasonal produce for sale.

2nd Street Market
Open year-round, 2nd Street Market in Downtown Dayton is a mainstay stop for locals and visitors alike. You can expect to find local growers, bakers and culinary specialists selling seasonal produce, herbs, baked goods, plants and more. Starting in May, 2nd Street has an outdoor farmers market to accompany its indoor vendors.
600 E. 2nd St., Dayton. Fridays 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Sundays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Monnin’s Fruit Farm
Another year-round market, Monnin’s Fruit Farm offers freshly picked fruits and vegetables. Open since 1961, Monnin’s also has a market full of Amish baked goods, jams and jellies. If you do choose to check out Monnin’s, make sure to bring cash or a check, as they don’t take card.
