3 Ways to Beat the Heat

3 Ways to Beat the Heat

Young’s Jersey Dairy

Beat the heat this summer by going swimming, eating ice cream or exploring Dayton’s museums

Last week’s heat wave may be over, but Dayton is sure to stay hot all summer. Here are some ways to beat the heat.

Swimming

Located at the Kettering Recreation Complex, you can visit Adventure Reef Water Park all summer through Labor Day. The park features the highest and fastest slides in Montgomery County, and pass holders can enjoy early entry and exclusive use of the park on Sundays. Other local water parks like the Kroger Aquatic Center at the Heights and Troy Aquatic Park are good bets as well, with options for daily admission or seasonal passes.

Frozen treats

Sweet P’s Handcrafted Ice Pops has ice pops for all preferences, including dairy-based, fruit-based and no sugar added. Their stores are located in the heart of downtown Dayton and with local delivery within 15 miles of the Dayton Area, you won’t have to leave your home to enjoy an ice pop from Sweet P’s. Or, if you want to turn ice cream into an all-day family activity, visit Young’s Jersey Dairy, a working dairy in Yellow Springs.

Visit a Museum

Hot days are a perfect excuse to visit one of Dayton’s air-conditioned museums. For fun family learning activities, check out Boonshoft Museum of Discovery’s lineup of daily programs Monday through Friday for all kinds of interests. The museum’s laser shows are also back every other weekend during the summer. Through July 16, you can also visit the Dayton Art Institute for their temporary exhibit featuring the woodblock prints of twentieth-century Japanese artist Saitō Kiyoshi.
