Aullwood Audubon and the Dayton Art Institute are participating in the Blue Star Museum program

Blue Star Museums are looking to give back to the community this summer.  

Two local institutions, Aullwood Audubon and the Dayton Art Institute, have joined more than 2,000 museums nationwide participating in the Blue Star Museum program this summer as a way to support military and their families.   

The Blue Star museums program is for active-duty military in all branches of the service, and allows active-duty service members and five members of their family free entry at participating museums through September 4. 

“Blue Star Museums is an important way for the DAI and other museums throughout the country to thank them and give something back to them,” Dayton Art Institute director Michael R. Roediger says in a press release.  

Aullwood Audubon has been a proud Blue Star Museum for at least five years, according to development and marketing manager Laurie Cothran.  

“It’s a great way to support our military, we love our military and what they do for us, and it’s just a small way that we can give back,” Cothran says. 

Aullwood Audubon is looking forward to growing the community and welcoming more visitors. 

“I think the future is very bright. We’re excited just to bring on young people who want to learn about careers maybe as a naturalist or in science, so we’re excited about the future,” Cothran adds.
