LGBTQ Festival returns with in-person events

The Greater Dayton LGBT Center resumes festivities for its annual event celebrating the queer community and commemorating the Stonewall Riots.

According to the Center, “Pride creates a safe environment for members of our community to express themselves without fear of hate and to experience homosexuality as being the default as opposed the the exception while helping to raise awareness and support for the LGBTQIA+ community.”

The action takes place on Courthouse Square in Dayton this weekend. Friday’s “Affair on the Square” starts at 6 p.m. and features three live bands: Colin Richards and Spare Change, Taylor Alexander, and Neo American Pioneers opening for the popular local drag performers, The Rubi Girls.

The Reverse Parade kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 5. Attendees are invited to deck out their vehicles and cruise Second Street, viewing the displays. The festival follows at noon on Courthouse Square, featuring live entertainment, vendors, kids’ activities, a beer garden and more.
