These festivals and fireworks shows are coming back with a bang

There is nothing quite like fireworks on the Fourth of July. Every year, families across the nation gather outside to celebrate the patriotic day with food, music and festivities. After the majority of Fourth of July events were cancelled last year due to COVID-19, sparks are set to fly this summer. Here are four events you can attend celebrate the holiday.

City of Dayton Lights in Flight Firework Festival
237 E. Monument Avenue Dayton

This July 3 festival and firework combo can be found at RiverScape MetroPark. Start your day early and enjoy food and music then grab your seat to see the show. The festival begins at 12 p.m. with fireworks at 10 p.m.

In an email to Dayton Today, Dayton’s Recreation Division Manager Stephen Marcellus said the festival will consist of music performances from local bands, food, beer and fun! In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks show will shoot off July 5.

Centerville Washington Township Americana Festival
Centerville High School Stadium, 500 E. Franklin Street, Centerville

The Americana festival begins on July 4 where food vendors will be available at the Centerville High School Stadium entrance. On July 5, the Up and Running Americana 5k Run/Walk begins at 10 a.m. After the 5k, the 120-unit Americana Parade begins, along with the Americana food fair.

City of Kettering Fireworks – Go 4th!
Delco Park Drive, Kettering

Kettering’s Go 4th event is full of fun for the whole family with everything from its kids’ zone to live music and food trucks. Grab your lawn chairs and watch a 25-minute firework display in the park starting at 10 p.m.

City of Vandalia Star-Spangled Celebration
Vandalia Sports Complex 1101 Stonequarry Road, Vandalia

This Independence Day celebration starts on July 3 at 7 p.m. at the Vandalia Sports Complex where there will be food for purchase and live music from the Blue Leafs. Fireworks begins at 10 p.m.
