Looking for something new this year on the Fourth? Look no further than Wiley’s Annual Fireworks Comedy Competition

Wiley’s Comedy Club, the oldest of its kind in all of Ohio, will host its annual Wiley’s Fireworks Comedy Competition this Fourth of July weekend. Tickets are on sale now on Wiley’s website for $15 each. Shows start at 6:30pm on Friday, June 30, Saturday, July 1 and Sunday, July 2.

Guests can sit at tables of up to 10 while enjoying original standup comedy along with great food from Wiley’s kitchen and signature cocktails to get the laughter muscles moving.

Over the course of the three-day event, nearly 50 Dayton-area comics will perform and ultimately culminate in a facedown between the final three competing comics on Sunday night. Karen Jaffe, the show coordinator for Wiley’s Comedy Club, advises buying tickets soon to reserve a seat.

“The first round is judged solely by the audience,” Jaffe says, “so the audience picks their top three favorites. When we tally the votes, the top three advance to the finals.”

During the vote tally, touring professional comics will perform a quick 15-to-20-minute set to keep the audience engaged.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes early for the show to reserve the best seats, as shows have sold out mere minutes before the show began in years past.

“There have been comics that have been on the show in the past and have gone on to be professional comedians,” Jaffe says, “so who knows, you could catch the next Dave Chappelle.”
