How to have a haunting weekend in the Miami Valley

Get ready for trick-or-treating on Oct. 31 with these weekend events leading up to Halloween. 

Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics 

A Thursday, Oct. 26 show at the Dayton Masonic Temple will bring some of the season’s spookiest songs to life by candlelight. Hear a string quartet play Michael Jackson, the Ghostbusters theme and the music to some slasher classics during this 60-minute, family-friendly concert. 

Wag-O-Ween 

One of the best things about being a dog owner is dressing your pet up for Halloween. This Halloween, you can bring your costumed pup to a trick-or-treating event just for them. Kettering’s Wag-O-Ween event will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Kettering Recreation Complex. Along with doggy trick-or-treating, there will be photo booth ops, a dog costume contest and a chance to meet adoptable pets. Pre-registration is required if you want to participate in the costume contest. 

Halloween Bar Crawl 

See Dayton’s bars in a spooky new light on this Saturday, Oct. 28. Participating bars will have Halloween specials and play seasonal music—and there’s a costume contest to reward the scariest and most creative costumes. If the official bar crawl fills up, it’s easy to DIY your own, hopping around Dayton’s bars to show off your costume.
