Ghostlight Coffee’s new restaurant shines in historic Dayton Arcade location

When Dayton locals think of good coffee, they often think of Ghostlight. Well known throughout the Miami Valley, Ghostlight Coffee has been named Best in Dayton multiple times since 2016. Its newest location, Gather by Ghostlight in the Dayton Arcade, presents a new menu offering even more tasty beverages, meals and treats.

The first Ghostlight location in Historic South Park (1201 Wayne Ave) opened in November 2011, with the second location opening in Midtown (800 S. Patterson Blvd.) in November 2019.

“We started baking our own pastries and bagels in 2014. When we opened our second location in 2019, we added breakfast and lunch to the menu,” says Shane Anderson, founder and owner of Ghostlight Coffee and Gather.

Ghostlight Coffee offers various beverages, bagels, breakfast, lunch and made-from-scratch pastries at each location.

“We have been thought of as Dayton’s neighborhood coffeehouse since 2011, so our coffee is popular. Our hand-rolled, beer-boiled bagels are also very popular, as well as our ‘GhostTarts,’ which are similar to a pop-tart with unique flavored fillings and icings,” says Anderson.

When Gather by Ghostlight opened in August 2023 in the historic Dayton Arcade (37 W. 4th St.), the menu expanded and got even more creative.

Gather is known as a relaxed, refined place that offers craft coffee, breakfast, lunch, shareable plates, wine, beer, cocktails, local art, live music and other events.

A small plate menu is offered in the evenings, perfect for sharing alongside a cocktail or glass of wine, or to have for yourself.

“Gather was designed to enjoy with friends or co-workers. It is meant to be that gathering place for coffee and pastries with a friend, an afternoon meeting with a colleague or groups of friends enjoying cocktails, live jazz and more,” says Anderson.

All food is made from scratch, including the breads and pastries, which are made by Gather’s sister bakery, Dough, a bakery by Ghostlight (3021 Wilmington Pike, Kettering).

Gather and Ghostlight’s menus adjust seasonally. For example, this holiday season, Dough bakery offered special treats such as Ms. Sprinkles’ Holiday Cookie Boxes, Kentucky Bourbon Pecan Pie, The Christmas Party GhostTart and more.

“We are truly honored to be a part of the revitalization of The Dayton Arcade. A vacant space is now full of life, and it is our pleasure to help Dayton gather in this amazing space once again,” says Anderson.
