 A Different Approach

James Investment builds wealth with purpose and connection

Located along a tree-lined property in Beavercreek, Ohio in a cabin-esque building, James Investment doesn’t resemble your typical financial office. The firm’s headquarters, sitting on its wooded lands, resembled more of a retreat than a corporate hub. That atmosphere is perhaps intentional, though, shaping the way James Investment approaches finance.

Founded by Francis E. James, the company was created with a simple vision, according to Brian Culpepper, president and CEO of James Investment. “[We wanted to] provide honest, thoughtful guidance to families who want more than numbers on a page. Over five decades later, that vision remains the foundation of James Investment,” he says. “It’s a place where conversations about life and legacy unfold with the same ease as talks around a family table.”

Today, the James Investment team focuses on tailoring strategies to each client. They work with young professionals making their first major investments, families balancing complex portfolios, retirees seeking to preserve wealth and more. “Every client story is different and every plan reflects that individuality,” Culpepper says. “Each strategy is built around individual circumstances, values and dreams.”

Advisors emphasize listening as the first step. “[We] take time to truly understand what matters most,” Culpepper says. “Then [we] craft solutions that provide clarity, confidence and peace of mind.” Combining this human-first approach with technology, James Investment says it is uniquely positioned to help those manage their finances. “James Investment helps clients move forward with purpose, knowing their unique goals are at the center of every recommendation,” he says.

The firm’s roots in Beavercreek also tie closely to the community. Over the years, James Investment has supported local schools, youth programs and nonprofits such as Shoes 4 the Shoeless and 4 Paws for Ability. However, Culpepper sees these commitments as more than just goodwill but rather as part of the same mission that drives its client work. “These commitments are more than sponsorships; they’re part of building a stronger, lasting foundation for the region where their clients live, work and raise families,” he says.

That combination of personal attention and community involvement has fostered long-term loyalty, Culpepper says. Many of today’s clients are children and grandchildren of the firm’s first families, according to Culpepper. “Clients often say working with James Investment feels like joining a family.” Instead of chasing scale, Culpepper says, the firm has remained intentionally small. It is a boutique operation where advisors know clients by name and history, he says. It is this idea that buttresses the firm’s philosophy: wealth is not only about accumulation but about meaning. “True wealth is more than numbers,” Culpepper says. “It’s the life you create and the legacy you leave behind.
