The Dayton Art Institute reopens after a months-long closure due to the pandemic

Similar to other establishments that are reopening throughout the area after closing their doors during the pandemic, the Dayton Art Institute is opening its doors to the public once again, but with a couple new procedures in place.

The Art Institute, which closed last November and officially reopened March 19, is limiting its hours to 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The aim of the new hours is of course to keep visitors safe.

Face coverings, distancing and enhanced cleaning methods are some of the other policies being put in place to make all visitors feel safe while emjoying the beautiful exhibits throughout the museum.

A statement from the museum’s website reads, “The DAI team has been hard at work crafting a safe strategy that puts people first, both staff and museum guests. We have thoughtfully prepared for our reopening with updated museum rules based on recommendations and mandates from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the State of Ohio, Montgomery County and the City of Dayton. Face coverings (masks) are mandatory and required the entire time guests are in the museum, and physical distance guidelines of 6 feet or more are required.”
