Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School has created a variety of ways for prospective students to learn about the schoolCorinne Minard When it comes to selecting a private school for your family, a lot of the decision-making process comes down to connection. Your child shadows another student, your family attends an open house or you meet in person with current parents. But thanks to COVID-19, a lot of these experiences are off the table. How do you make that connection now?
Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School, located in the educational corridor of downtown Dayton at 505 S. Ludlow St. in Dayton, has found new ways to give prospective families and students that same connection through a slew of virtual and in-person experiences.
First, families can take a guided Campus Tour with Eagle Ambassadors leading the way and answering questions. Visitors can explore the remodeled teaching and learning spaces designed to enhance the experience of its students. The CJ STEMM Center, CJ auditorium, Eagle Tennis Center and Roger Glass Stadium—Home of the CJ Eagles—are among the recent expansion and improvement projects that guests will see. Tours are offered after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., registration is required and space is limited.
Another option is a virtual Parent Reception, which is held Mondays through November 2. Parents can meet and mingle with the people who know the school best: its students and parents. President Dan Meixner ’84 and Brandon Meyer, director of admissions, will guide parents through the admissions process and answer questions. Registration is required for these virtual sessions.
Students looking to learn more about the school directly from a current Eagle can sign up for a Virtual Shadow. Through Google Meet, prospective students can learn about the school from a student perspective and take a virtual walk-through of the campus. Registration is available online. Another exciting feature is the “chat” with an Eagle Ambassador where students and parents can trade text-style messages at will.
And while Chaminade Julienne isn’t hosting an in-person open house this year, prospective families can attend its Live Virtual Open House Sunday, Nov. 1, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. During that time, you’ll get to meet students, parents, teachers, coaches and administrators and get an inside look of the school. Online registration is required.
