Who let the dogs out? On May 26, the Humane Society of Greater Dayton will be hosting its annual Furry Skurry 5K and Furry Fest. This is the 27th year that the Humane Society of Greater Dayton will be offering its Furry Skurry 5K. A few years ago, Furry Fest was implemented. Furry Fest occurs after the 5K and provides many fun things for people and pets alike. “This year we have tons of things going on,” says Jessica Garringer, marketing and PR manager for the Humane Society of Greater Dayton. The Furry Fest will include a food truck rally, a kids play zone, and a dog-bone bar, just to name a few. People are also able to participate in goat yoga, but you must pre-register.  “We’re hoping to have close to 1,000 runners for the 5K,” Garringer says. “We had about 2,000 in attendance all together last year, but we’re hoping to grow that number.” All dogs are allowed to the event. “We have a lot of people that don’t bring dogs as well,” Garringer says. “It’s an event that anyone can come to.” You don’t have to bring any paperwork for your dog to attend the event, but it is recommended that all dogs be on a leash. It is also recommended that dogs are up to date on all of their vaccines and that they are spayed and neutered, but it is not required.  For more information on the event please visit
