Weekends this April are full of family-friendly events in the Dayton area
With spring in full swing, there are a number of events going on around Dayton. Even better, several events celebrate the wilder side of Dayton, focusing exclusively on animals.
The Grazing Ground
The Grazing Ground is a 6.5-acre farm offering several goat-themed experiences for people of all ages. Schedule a goat yoga session, a goat snuggle session or meet up for coffee with some of these goats. The Snuggles with Goats event is open to all ages and available rain or shine.
Registration is required for any meetings with the goats. The Grazing Ground also offers child-specific events, such as Storytime with Goats. For Storytime with goats, children must be accompanied at all times. Goats are only to be held while sitting and accompanied by an adult. This event is recommended for children 3-6 years old.

Carriage Hill Historical Farm
Step into a simpler time at the Carriage Hill Historical Farm, where farm life comes alive through hands-on experiences and up-close encounters with animals. This immersive outdoor space recreates an 1880s working farm, complete with barns, pastures and heritage crops.
Visitors can see a variety of traditional farm animals—including draft horses, sheep, chickens and more—while learning how farmers once cared for the land and livestock. Throughout the day, you may even catch real farm work in action, from tending animals to seasonal chores.
Perfect for families and curious explorers alike, this experience offers a unique chance to connect with agriculture, animals and the rhythms of rural life.
